December 19, 2024 – Honda has announced today that it will officially unveil two Honda Zero series prototypes at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas next January. Additionally, the company plans to showcase its newly developed proprietary operating system tailored for its global electric vehicle lineup.
Honda introduced the Honda Zero series at CES 2024, positioning it as a brand-new “global electric vehicle series.” The goal is to create vehicles that are “lighter” and “more futuristic” compared to the bulky and boxy electric SUVs and trucks currently available in the market. The Honda Zero series embodies three core principles: “slim,” “light,” and “intelligent.” Leveraging its experience in Formula 1 racing and robotics technology, Honda aims to launch a range of vehicles with distinct futuristic features.
At the upcoming CES, Honda intends to further elaborate on its “intelligent” principle by revealing more details about the new operating system, autonomous driving technology, and the SoC (System on a Chip) that will support Honda Zero models.
Preview images show the rear profiles of two concept cars, the Saloon and Space-Hub, which were first showcased earlier this year. The Saloon boasts a sleek, coupe-like silhouette with unique rectangular light clusters at the front and rear. Meanwhile, the Space-Hub resembles an MPV, featuring extremely short front and rear overhangs.
Recently, Honda has been surrounded by rumors, including the development of solid-state batteries, collaboration with Sony on the Afeela electric vehicle, and even a possible merger with Nissan. The company’s upcoming presentations at CES are expected to shed more light on these developments.
