Retro Reimagined: HMD Skyline G2 Unveils Lumia 1020-Inspired ‘Oreo’ Camera Design

June 28, 2024 –HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, is poised to introduce two new smartphones under the Skyline/G2 series, drawing inspiration from the iconic Lumia design era. Based on recently leaked renders, the front of these devices will embrace the Fabula aesthetic that was synonymous with Nokia Lumia devices.

Today, exclusive information from HMDMeme reveals the backside render of the Skyline G2 smartphone, showcasing a camera module reminiscent of the Lumia 1020’s “Oreo” design. However, specific details about the sensors within this module remain under wraps.

In terms of specifications, both Skyline and G2 models are expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor. They will feature FHD+ AMOLED displays with a refresh rate of 120Hz, ensuring smooth and responsive visuals. The battery capacity stands at 4900mAh, supporting 33W wired charging for quick top-ups. Furthermore, the devices will boast dual speakers and incorporate OZO audio technology, along with PureView technology for enhanced imaging capabilities.

Beyond the smartphone lineup, HMD Global is also set to introduce a tablet dubbed “HMD SLATE TAB.” This device, which aims to succeed the previous Nokia T10/T21 models, will adopt a design philosophy similar to the Lumia 2520. The tablet will sport a polycarbonate rear cover and be powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor. It will feature a 10.6-inch 2K LCD screen, dual speakers, three microphones, and support for a stylus, making it a versatile tool for both entertainment and productivity.

The imminent launch of these Lumia-inspired devices marks a return to a beloved design language for Nokia fans, while also introducing modern hardware specifications to ensure a seamless user experience.
