Infineon Acquires Marvell’s Automotive Ethernet Business for $2.5B in Cash

April 8, 2025 – Infineon Technologies and Marvell Technology Group Ltd. revealed yesterday that they have finalized an agreement under which Marvell will sell its automotive Ethernet technology business to Infineon for $2.5 billion.

This transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, with an expected completion date within 2025.

Marvell’s Brightlane automotive Ethernet product line offers connectivity speeds ranging from 100Mbps to 10Gbps, featuring robust security capabilities that meet current and future application requirements. The customer base includes eight of the top ten automotive OEMs, with cumulative design wins valued at approximately $4 billion by 2030.

Despite generating $225–250 million in revenue for Marvell in 2025, with a gross margin of around 60%, the company is shifting its focus toward becoming a leading provider of data center infrastructure solutions. Divesting this business will bolster Marvell’s cash reserves and allow it to concentrate on its server – related initiatives.

For Infineon, acquiring Marvell’s automotive Ethernet technology will enhance its automotive chip product portfolio and strengthen its position as a leader in the automotive microcontroller (MCU) market.
