Tesla China Expands Local AI Ecosystem: Qwen Under Deep Vehicle Testing After Doubao Rollout

July 31, 2026 –Alibaba’s Qwen large language model has entered deep in-vehicle testing for Tesla’s China-market infotainment systems, with a public rollout on the near horizon, multiple people familiar with the matter have confirmed. The model has already completed extensive validation work on real Tesla production hardware, with a full feature roadmap that covers voice interaction, vehicle control, navigation orchestration and end-to-end service execution — capabilities that will stretch far beyond the boundaries of a conventional in-car voice assistant.

Neither Alibaba Cloud nor Tesla China has issued an official statement confirming a specific launch timeline for Qwen integration as of press time.

The news breaks on the same day that Tesla China began rolling out its ‌2026.14.13‌ over-the-air software update, a staggered release that is now being pushed to all four of its local vehicle lineups: the Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X. This update marks the first major step for Tesla’s China fleet to adopt localized domestic large model capabilities, laying the technical groundwork for a more diversified AI cockpit ecosystem in the coming months.
