July 31, 2026 – Xiaomi’s latest electric vehicle project has highlighted a new approach to large-family mobility, with the company showcasing the impressive interior flexibility of its upcoming Pengcheng N90 Max model at a launch event.
During the presentation, seven members of Xiaomi’s Pengcheng development team stepped out of the N90 Max, with the tallest member measuring 1.96 meters in height. Each person then removed a 20-inch suitcase from the vehicle’s rear cargo area, demonstrating that the seven-seat vehicle can accommodate seven passengers while still carrying seven pieces of luggage.
Xiaomi founder Lei Jun said the demonstration reflected the company’s ambition to create what he described as a “movable home.” According to Lei, the goal was to develop a vehicle that combines the styling, driving experience, and off-road capability of an SUV with the spaciousness and flexible interior arrangement typically associated with recreational vehicles.
To achieve this vision, Xiaomi spent three and a half years developing a new vehicle platform architecture called the Xiaomi Kunlun Technology Architecture. The system consists of three major components: the Xiaomi Kunlun Platform, Xiaomi Kunlun Super Range Extender, and Xiaomi Kunlun All-Domain Safety system.
The Pengcheng N90 Max adopts a 2+2+3 seven-seat configuration and features an intelligent adjustable cabin design with 18 different interior layout modes. Its standard trunk capacity reaches 577 liters, while folding and moving the second- and third-row seats forward allows the maximum cargo space to expand to 1,831 liters.
For greater versatility, multiple components inside the cabin—including seats, the sliding center console, doors, and steering wheel—support electric adjustment. The vehicle also uses high-strength sliding rails and integrates 39 anti-pinch protection points to improve both convenience and passenger safety.
Safety is another key focus of the N90 Max. The vehicle features an armored cage-style body structure with a maximum material strength rating of up to 2,200 MPa. Xiaomi has equipped the model with 12 airbags and nine collision sensors, along with triple-redundant door handles and dual emergency release handles for the rear tailgate.
In terms of pricing, the Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 Max is expected to launch with a pre-sale price of RMB 299,900, while the Pengcheng N70 Max will start from RMB 259,900. Both models are scheduled for an official release in September this year.
