Tim Cook Reveals Apple Has Surpassed 1.5 Billion Paid Subscriptions, Adding 500 Million in Three Years

July 31, 2026 – Apple has surpassed a major milestone in its rapidly expanding services business, revealing that the number of paid subscriptions across its ecosystem has climbed beyond 1.5 billion worldwide during the company’s third quarter of fiscal 2026.

The figure was disclosed by Apple CEO Tim Cook during the company’s earnings conference call for the third quarter of fiscal 2026, which covered the period from March 28 to June 27, 2026. The latest total reflects continued momentum for Apple’s subscription-driven business, which has become one of the company’s fastest-growing revenue segments.

The newly announced milestone also highlights the pace of Apple’s expansion. In 2023, the company reported that its paid subscription base had exceeded 1 billion. Reaching 1.5 billion in just three years means Apple added another 500 million paid subscriptions during that period.

Apple’s reported subscription count is broader than its own first-party services. It includes subscriptions to products such as Apple Music, Apple TV+, iCloud+, and the Apple One bundle, while also counting recurring subscriptions purchased through third-party applications distributed on the App Store.

The continued growth underscores the increasing importance of Apple’s services ecosystem, as recurring subscriptions remain a key contributor to the company’s long-term business strategy and revenue diversification.
