July 31, 2026 – Xiaomi has officially expanded its automotive ambitions with the unveiling of two new extended-range SUVs at its Pengcheng Technology Launch Event on July 30. During the presentation, CEO Lei Jun introduced the company’s newly developed Kunlun Technology Architecture, a vehicle platform engineered over the past three years to support Xiaomi’s next generation of intelligent, spacious SUVs.
The Kunlun Architecture, first approved as a project in early 2023, was built from the ground up rather than adapted from an existing platform. Xiaomi says it serves as the foundation for its upcoming “smart adaptive large-space SUV” lineup, combining cabin flexibility, extended-range efficiency, and advanced safety technologies into a unified vehicle framework.
According to Lei Jun, the architecture is built around three key pillars. The Kunlun Platform focuses on maximizing interior space through a completely flat floor design, a squared cabin layout, and extra-long seat rails. The Kunlun Super Range-Extender system is designed to deliver long driving distances, reduced fuel consumption when the battery is depleted, and lower long-term ownership costs. Completing the package is the Kunlun All-Domain Safety system, featuring an armored cage-style body structure intended to enhance passenger protection.
Lei Jun also emphasized that every major component used in the vehicles comes from leading domestic and international suppliers, highlighting the company’s confidence in manufacturing quality and reliability.
Leading the new lineup is the Pengcheng N90 Max, a flagship full-size seven-seat extended-range SUV measuring 5,285 mm long, 1,998 mm wide, and 1,825 mm tall, with a 3,080 mm wheelbase. The SUV adopts a 2+2+3 seating configuration, and Xiaomi says the third row is spacious enough to comfortably accommodate three adult passengers.
Powering the N90 Max is a 76 kWh ternary lithium battery supplied by CALB. Xiaomi claims the vehicle can travel up to 505 km on electric power alone under the CLTC standard, while its combined driving range reaches 1,705 km. Lei Jun stated that the SUV is capable of completing the journey from Beijing to Shanghai on a full tank and full charge without requiring either refueling or recharging.
Joining it is the Pengcheng N70 Max, positioned as a five-seat all-wheel-drive extended-range SUV. It measures 4,960 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,765 mm in height, while sharing the same 3,080 mm wheelbase as its larger sibling.
One of the standout engineering features of the Kunlun platform is its continuous flat floor, extending uninterrupted from the front cabin to the cargo area. Measuring approximately 2.9 meters in length with a floor inclination of just 2.95 degrees, Xiaomi says the design is rarely seen in SUVs and significantly improves passenger comfort and interior usability.
The N90 Max also introduces a rear-wheel steering system designed to improve maneuverability by reducing the turning radius despite the SUV’s large dimensions. Xiaomi noted that all seven core components of its range-extender system were redesigned and specially optimized during development, and the complete range-extender assembly is backed by an eight-year warranty.
For personalization, the N90 Max launches with three exclusive exterior finishes: Distant Mountain Green, Butterfly Valley Blue, and Volcano Gray. Customers can also choose a Dark Night Edition, which features blacked-out exterior trim and badges, while powered side steps are available as an optional upgrade.
