November 29, 2025 – According to a recent post by tech media outlet Wccftech on November 26, Ubisoft is still actively seeking talent for its long – anticipated game, Beyond Good & Evil 2, as evidenced by a new job posting. This indicates that the development of this highly – expected title is still ongoing.
The open position is for a “Technical Sound Designer” at Ubisoft Montpellier Studio. The main responsibility of this role is to offer technical solutions for the audio system, ensuring that audio assets such as sounds, music, and voice – overs can be implemented in the game as intended.

On one hand, this recruitment has reassured long – waiting players that the project is still in progress. On the other hand, it has also raised concerns. Since its first official announcement in 2008, the development cycle of Beyond Good & Evil 2 has approached two decades. The fact that it is still recruiting for core technical positions implies that the development is far from reaching its conclusion. The project was once defined by Ubisoft as a “AAAA – grade” blockbuster, but its long – drawn – out development has been full of setbacks.
Over the past few years, the project team has experienced significant personnel upheavals. Michel Ancel, the original project leader, announced his retirement from the gaming industry and left Ubisoft in 2020.
Subsequently, in 2023, Guillame Carmona, the executive director of the Montpellier Studio, departed. Even more unfortunately, Emile Morel, the creative director of the project, passed away unexpectedly in the same year. These changes have had a profound impact on the game’s development.
Despite facing numerous difficulties and uncertainties, Ubisoft has never canceled the Beyond Good & Evil 2 project. To stabilize the team and drive the development forward, the company appointed a new creative director, Fawzi Mesmar, to take over the project last year. The current recruitment of a technical sound designer further shows that Ubisoft is reorganizing its team and continuing to push forward with this ill – fated “AAAA – grade” game.
