November 25, 2025 – According to a report from The Information cited by Investing.com, Meta, which currently relies heavily on NVIDIA GPUs in its AI infrastructure, is in discussions with Google about installing the latter’s TPU chips in its own data centers.

The report reveals that Meta plans to adopt a hybrid approach, combining cloud services and on-premises deployment, when it comes to using Google’s TPUs. Starting as early as next year, Meta intends to lease TPU computing power from Google Cloud. Additionally, it is considering importing TPU chips worth billions of dollars beginning in 2027.
If this deal materializes, it will mark a significant win for Google in selling its TPUs externally. Previously, the company had only secured contracts with small cloud service providers to deploy TPUs outside of Google’s internal environment.
Some executives at Google Cloud believe that selling TPUs externally could help the company capture up to 10% of NVIDIA’s revenue.
