July 31, 2025 – On Wednesday, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, unveiled an ambitious vision for “personal superintelligence,” setting the company’s AI strategy apart from its rivals.
In a statement, Zuckerberg highlighted that Meta’s AI systems have recently shown signs of self-improvement, suggesting that the development of superintelligence is now within reach. “Our goal is to bring personal superintelligence to everyone,” he emphasized. “We believe it’s crucial to empower individuals by putting this transformative capability into their hands, enabling them to apply it to what matters most in their lives.”

Drawing a contrast with other industry players, Zuckerberg pointed out that some companies envision superintelligence as a centralized force automating all valuable tasks, leaving humanity reliant on its outputs. Meta, however, is taking a distinct approach by focusing on democratizing access to superintelligence at the individual level.
He also predicted that AI systems capable of deeply understanding users’ objectives will grow increasingly vital. Devices like smart glasses, he argued, are poised to become primary computing tools, as they can interpret context by observing and listening to users’ experiences.
While advocating for broad access to superintelligence, Zuckerberg acknowledged that new safety challenges will inevitably arise as the technology evolves, necessitating careful consideration of which innovations should be open-sourced.
“The rest of this decade will likely be pivotal in shaping the future of this technology,” he said, stressing Meta’s commitment to developing AI that empowers people rather than replacing human roles.
