June 21, 2025 – Sources familiar with the matter revealed to The Information yesterday that Meta is currently in talks with Nat Friedman, the former CEO of GitHub, aiming to bring him on board its AI division.
In addition to Friedman, the social media behemoth has also engaged in discussions with Daniel Gross, Friedman’s partner at the investment fund NFDG. The company is keen on having Gross join to contribute to its AI initiatives. Furthermore, Meta is reportedly in the midst of partial acquisition negotiations with NFDG.

As the battle for dominance in the AI landscape intensifies, major tech firms are ramping up their collaborations and investments. Just last week, Meta made headlines by announcing a staggering $14.8 billion investment in Scale AI, marking its second-largest investment to date. Alongside this financial move, the company has also recruited Alexandr Wang, the CEO of Scale AI.
Notably, Friedman already holds a position on Meta’s advisory board, which is dedicated to offering insights and guidance on technological and product development strategies.
