November 01, 2023 – White House Issues Executive Order to Ensure AI Development Benefits All In response to the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, the White House has recently issued an executive order, calling for a collaborative effort among government agencies, research institutions, and businesses to establish a secure, reliable, and trustworthy framework while mitigating potential risks.
This executive order primarily focuses on the formulation of AI safety standards, the protection of Americans’ privacy, the promotion of fairness and civil rights, and the overall welfare of consumers, patients, students, and support for the workforce. The goal is to strike a balance between the development of AI and the associated risks.
Earlier this year, the Biden administration initiated a new AI security initiative, with the voluntary participation of 15 companies, including OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Anthropic, Inflection AI, and Meta.
These AI commitments primarily encompass security, assurance, and trustworthiness, and are applicable to current and future generative AI models. The collective effort seeks to harness the potential of AI while safeguarding the interests and well-being of society at large.
