December 13, 2024 – Tesla has unveiled a groundbreaking Robotaxi called the Cybercab this October, marking the company’s first fully autonomous vehicle. Featuring a unique gull-wing door design and lacking a steering wheel or pedals, the Cybercab represents a significant milestone in the evolution of self-driving technology.
According to Elon Musk, production of this futuristic taxi is set to commence in 2026, with a price tag capped at $30,000. This announcement has sparked considerable excitement in the automotive and technology industries, as it signals a potential shift towards a new era of transportation.
Recent aerial footage captured by Joe Tegtmeyer, a long-time observer of Tesla’s Texas Gigafactory, reveals that the company is conducting extensive testing of the Cybercab near its manufacturing hub. The test routes span the eastern side of the highway and even reach the southern end of Cyberpond and the vast Fork display area.
Much like its predecessors, these Cybercab test vehicles are followed by a Model 3 observation car. These self-driving taxis have demonstrated remarkable stability and responsiveness on the factory roads, reacting smoothly to pedestrians and other vehicles, almost as if driven by a human operator. Tesla’s latest innovation promises to revolutionize the transportation industry, offering a glimpse into a future where autonomous vehicles could become a commonplace.
