Strong Supply Chain Paves Way for Nintendo Switch 2 to Sell Over 20 Million Units in First Year

January 17, 2025 – The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 has finally been unveiled, along with a teaser for an all-new Mario Kart game, though full details will be revealed during a Direct presentation on April 2nd.

Analyst Robin Zhu from Sanford C. Bernstein told Bloomberg that the Nintendo Switch 2 is projected to sell over 20 million units in its first year of release.

Nintendo has established a robust supply chain network, enabling the company to support sales exceeding 20 million consoles in the initial year. In comparison, the current Switch sold approximately 15 million units in its first four quarters.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is poised to achieve even higher sales this year compared to its predecessor, and such a large supply is also expected to help mitigate profiteering by scalpers.

Nintendo is set to hold a dedicated event on April 2nd, focusing on providing more details about the Switch 2.
