Secretive Designs: Tesla Employees Crafting Alternatives to the Cybertruck

September 12, 2023 – The Cybertruck, Tesla’s futuristic electric pickup truck, has been a topic of intrigue since its unveiling. Recent revelations from Tesla’s Chief Designer, Franz von Holzhausen, shed light on internal dissent regarding the Cybertruck’s design. According to a new book by Walter Isaacson, it appears that some Tesla employees are secretly working on alternative design concepts due to their dissatisfaction with the current Cybertruck design.

Isaacson, who spent three years researching and reporting on Elon Musk, revealed that a group of Tesla engineers began crafting an alternative vision for the Cybertruck as early as 2019, shortly after they had a glimpse of the Cybertruck prototype at SpaceX’s Los Angeles showroom.

It’s unclear at this point what the replacement design might entail or whether it will ever see the light of day. The report suggests that many design engineers have offered their input to Musk, but he has remained committed to pushing forward with the existing project, unwavering in the face of dissent.

The situation raises intriguing questions about the future of Tesla’s Cybertruck. Will the company consider alternative designs, or will it stick to its guns and stay the course with the original concept? Ultimately, the decision will rest with Tesla’s leadership, led by Elon Musk, and will be influenced by how the market responds to the Cybertruck in its current form.
