Samsung in Talks with OpenAI to Integrate ChatGPT into Galaxy AI

November 26, 2024 – According to financial analyst Dan Nystedt on platform X, OpenAI is currently engaged in discussions with Samsung Electronics regarding a potential collaboration. The talks center around the possibility of integrating OpenAI’s ChatGPT into Samsung’s Galaxy AI, mirroring a similar partnership already established between Apple and OpenAI.

Such a move, if realized, would have significant implications for Google, as Samsung has previously integrated the tech giant’s Gemini model into its latest Galaxy AI. The introduction of ChatGPT could potentially pose a substantial challenge to Google’s position in the AI market.

Rumors of a collaboration between Samsung and OpenAI are not new. Earlier this year in January, reports emerged that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman had visited South Korea to meet with executives from Samsung and SK Hynix, exploring the possibility of developing AI-specific chips.

Meanwhile, on the competitive landscape, Apple has already taken steps to integrate the ChatGPT AI chat experience into Siri. With the release of the first beta version of iOS 18.2, users can now forward PDFs, text files, or images to ChatGPT for processing, provided they have obtained the necessary permissions. Previous reports suggest that the official version of iOS 18.2 is slated for release next month.
