January 13, 2025 – According to a report by Polygon, Riot Games, the developer of League of Legends, has announced the closure of its Los Angeles office for at least this week due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. The company will maintain only “critical functions” to ensure the normal operation of its games.
Although Riot Games’ Santa Monica office is currently outside the evacuation warning zone, the local Pacific Palisades fire has already destroyed over 2,000 buildings and forced the evacuation of more than 100,000 people.

Prioritizing the safety of its employees and their families, Riot Games has temporarily shut down its office. However, the company has the capability to work remotely, ensuring the continued normal operation and development of games like League of Legends and Legends of Runeterra.
It’s worth noting that Riot Games CEO Dylan Jadeja emphasized on LinkedIn that employee safety is the top priority. He also expressed the company’s commitment to giving back to the affected communities.
“While our business reaches across the globe, the heart of Riot Games has always been in Los Angeles. This city has nurtured us, and we are proud to call this great city our home,” Jadeja said.
