LG Display to Shift Focus to OLED and Automotive Markets

LG Display, the South Korean manufacturer of LCD panels, may continue to cut production of LCD television panels after closing its 7.5 generation panel factory in Paju, South Korea by the end of 2022. In early December 2022, media reported that the company plans to stop production of LCD television panels in South Korea. The P7 factory in Paju, which produces LCD panels for televisions, will reportedly cease production of LCD television panels in mid-December 2022 or at the end of the year.

As one of the world’s largest manufacturers and suppliers of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels, OLEDs, and flexible displays, LG Display holds a dominant position in the global market for large OLED television screens. The company produces displays for a range of companies, including some models of Apple’s iPhone.

Going forward, the company will focus on OLED television panels and the automotive market, and will work to develop new markets for transparent and gaming OLEDs.
