November 25, 2024 – In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman revealed that Apple is planning a significant enhancement for Siri in iOS 19, which is expected to be announced at WWDC 2025 next June. According to the report, Siri will become more like ChatGPT in key functionalities, allowing it to handle more complex requests.
However, Gurman also noted that while iOS 19 will be unveiled next June, the “substantially enhanced” Siri will actually be rolled out in iOS 19.4 in the spring of 2026.
Apple has been expanding its research into AI models, and in recent months, the company has posted several job openings to recruit AI talents. The job descriptions state that “you will join a team that is redefining computing and creating breakthrough conversational assistant technologies for large-scale systems and new client devices.”
Currently, Apple has already integrated the ChatGPT AI chat experience into Siri in the first beta version update of iOS 18.2. With permission, users can forward PDFs, text files, or images to ChatGPT for processing. According to previous reports, the official version of iOS 18.2 will be pushed next month, and Apple is expected to further enhance its “Apple-branded” AI experience next year.
