Tesla Cybertruck’s New Avatar: Armored Version Resists 14.5mm Bullets

August 17, 2024 – According to a recent report by Electrek, a collaboration between Tesla tuning house Unplugged Performance and defense company Archimedes Defense has resulted in a new line of Cybertruck-based “armored vehicles” aimed at both military, government, and civilian users.

Dubbed “STING,” this series is tailored for individuals who demand the highest standards in performance, protection, and energy independence. The vehicles are touted as being able to thrive in the harshest environments, offering unparalleled capabilities to anyone who needs to be prepared for anything.

The STING series comes in three distinct configurations, briefly summarized as follows:

First is the STING Baja, equipped with Unplugged Performance’s UP INVINCIBLE off-road package specifically designed for the Cybertruck. This model features a generator set that can be installed in the truck bed, providing a charging power of up to 125kW, effectively serving as a range-extending device for the Cybertruck.

Next is the STING Protector, which features special armor on its exterior, capable of resisting 7.62mm caliber bullets. It’s worth noting that while Tesla has claimed the Cybertruck’s body can withstand bullet impacts, this only applies to the steel parts of the vehicle, excluding the windows.

Lastly, the STING APC offers enhanced protection, able to withstand bullets up to 14.5mm caliber. Additionally, it is equipped with steel plates designed to protect against improvised explosive devices and mines.
