July 29, 2024 – During the X Takeover live event, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, revealed that the latest version of FSD (Full Self-Driving, Supervised), v12.5, is expected to be available for the Cybertruck in mid-August.
According to Musk, the new FSD update should be operational on the Cybertruck within the next two to four weeks, although he cautioned that the exact timing is uncertain due to the need for a series of tests to ensure its stable performance.
This announcement aligns with Musk’s previous statements regarding the release of FSD v12.5 for the Cybertruck. In May, he had mentioned plans to introduce this version, initially indicating a launch at the end of June. However, he later clarified that the Cybertruck’s FSD would require a few more months of development.
Recent reports suggest that Tesla has already begun rolling out FSD v12.5.1 to a select group of non-employee vehicles. Musk clarified that the early version of v12.5 would initially be exclusive to the HW4-based Model Y before being extended to other models.
The upcoming FSD update promises to enhance the autonomous driving capabilities of the Cybertruck, marking a significant milestone in Tesla’s journey towards fully automated vehicles. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development.
