February 8, 2025 – In the realm of supercars, Ferrari has long captivated the world’s ultra-wealthy with its exceptional performance and iconic brand allure. However, recent reports suggest that the Italian automaker might be saying “no” to customization requests that clash with its brand philosophy.
According to The Telegraph, Ferrari is considering measures that could prevent owners from opting for overly flamboyant paint schemes. Top executives are apprehensive that such extravagant color combinations might tarnish the marque’s prestigious image. Benedetto Vigna, Ferrari’s CEO, hinted that the company might step in to disallow certain extravagant customization choices.

“We’ve been internally discussing the possibility of predefined color combinations,” Vigna stated in an interview. “Protecting the brand’s values and identity is crucial. We certainly won’t produce a bizarre car.”
His comments indicate that Ferrari reserves the right to decline specific customization demands from clients. Although Vigna stopped short of explicitly stating that the company would blacklist certain customers, he emphasized that brand guidelines might restrict some options, a practice Ferrari has historically employed. He elaborated on the brand’s rationale: “Some color schemes might not appeal to a potential second buyer.”
Historically, Ferrari has rejected customers’ requests on various occasions. Notably, the company once sent a cease-and-desist letter to renowned DJ Deadmau5 over his “Nyan Cat” themed Ferrari. However, this public acknowledgment of potentially refusing clientele marks a departure from previous incidents.
Ferrari is renowned for its bespoke customization programs, promoting “tremendous freedom of choice” in its marketing campaigns. The question remains: Will Ferrari actually decline a super-wealthy individual’s bespoke demands when they’re willing to pay a seven-figure sum or more? Only time will reveal the answer.
