December 28, 2023 – Ekatong Technology and Smart jointly announced the establishment of a new joint venture company called “SmartMotive Software Technology Co., Ltd.”
Ekatong Technology and Smart have collaborated on the development of the smartOS for the Elf #1 and Elf #3 vehicle models. Their collaboration aims to create the ECARX Makalu computing platform, leveraging the AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000 processor and Radeon RX 6000 series GPU, and integrate it into Smart vehicle models.
According to the official statement from Ekatong, the SmartMotive Software joint venture is now headquartered in Fuyang, Hangzhou. The team is building upon the foundation of smartOS, conducting research and development in various aspects such as operating systems, user algorithms, application ecosystems, and more. They are focused on accelerating the integration and development of the ECARX Makalu computing platform into Smart products. Additionally, the joint venture aims to explore possibilities in immersive cabins, including 3A gaming, artificial intelligence technologies, brand IP incubation, and third-party ecosystem development.
