September 13, 2024 – Li Yunfei, General Manager of Brand and Public Relations at BYD Group, revealed today on Weibo that the company has achieved a significant milestone, with its total number of employees exceeding 900,000. This makes BYD the A-share listed company with the largest number of employees among over 5,300 such companies, surpassing the second-placed company by more than 400,000 staff.
According to Li, “Among BYD’s 900,000 employees, nearly 110,000 are technical research and development personnel, making it the automotive company with the most R&D staff in the world. In the past two years, we have also recruited nearly 50,000 outstanding fresh graduates, continuously supporting the employment of college students.”
Publicly available information shows that BYD Group’s businesses include automobiles, rail transit, batteries, electronics, and other sectors, with its automotive business performing particularly well in recent years. As of December 2023, BYD’s total number of employees had already surpassed 700,000. In 2023, BYD hired 33,000 new R&D personnel, with the total number of R&D staff exceeding 100,000.
BYD’s campus recruitment in 2023 reached a total of 31,800 people, with masters and doctors accounting for 61.3% of the total. Among the more than 30,000 fresh graduates, 80.8% will be engaged in research and development work.
This July, over 10,000 graduates from the 2024 cohort joined BYD, with nearly 70% being masters or doctors, and nearly 80% being allocated to research and development roles.
