September 13, 2024 – Amazon is broadening the options for third-party sellers to manage product returns. The company is now offering more choices to sellers who use its hosted Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) service, including the option to not require customers to return selected items.
Following the expansion of its services, Amazon’s US-based sellers can now enroll in the FBA No-Return Solution program, allowing customers to receive refunds without the need to return the product, commonly known as the “refund only” option. However, certain products are ineligible for this program, including hazardous materials, heavy and bulky items, as well as products with an average selling price exceeding $75.
For items returned to Amazon’s return centers, the company will provide a “grading and reselling” solution, offering sellers a resale channel on Amazon. Before selling the items through grading and reselling, Amazon will inspect and test the condition of each product, providing a detailed description of its status.
For electronic products, Amazon will include powering on, testing, and factory resetting as part of the evaluation process. Based on the quality check, each product will be assigned one of four listing conditions: “like new,” “very good,” “good,” or “acceptable.”
Previously only available to retail brands, Amazon’s grading and reselling solution is now open to all sellers using FBA in the United States.
