iPhone 17 Lineup to Undergo Major Overhaul, Introducing New ‘Slim’ Variant

May 06, 2024 – Recent reports from analyst Jeff Pu indicate significant changes in Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 lineup. According to Pu, the new series will feature a “completely refreshed design,” improvements to the front-facing camera, and the introduction of a smaller cutout for the camera, commonly known as the notch.

In his report, Pu also mentioned the introduction of a new model called the “iPhone 17 Slim,” which will reportedly replace the “Plus” variant in the lineup. However, it’s important to note that this new Slim model is not a continuation of the previous iPhone 12/13 mini.

The iPhone 17 series, as predicted by Pu, will consist of the following models:

iPhone 17: 6.1-inch screen

iPhone 17 Slim: 6.6-inch screen

iPhone 17 Pro: 6.3-inch screen

iPhone 17 Pro Max: 6.9-inch screen

In terms of design, Pu stated that the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Slim, and iPhone 17 Pro will adopt a more intricate aluminum design. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro Max will retain its titanium frame and is rumored to sport a smaller notch. Additionally, all iPhone 17 models are rumored to be equipped with a 24-megapixel front camera.

Regarding specifications, Pu reported that the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Slim will be powered by either the A18 or A19 chip and come with 8GB of RAM. On the other hand, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will purportedly feature the A19 Pro chip and pack 12GB of RAM. For comparison, the current models, iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, offer 6GB of RAM, while the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max boast 8GB of RAM.
