October 28, 2024 – Apple announced last Friday that it will be rolling out its new Genmoji, Image Playground, and Image Wand features to users of the iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 developer betas in the “coming weeks.”
The complete news article was shared on Apple’s Feedback Assistant website, detailing how users can join the early access waitlist for these features to test and help improve them. Access can be requested for the Image Playground app, Image Playground integration in Messages or Freeform, Genmoji integration in the emoji keyboard, and Image Wand in the Apple Pencil tool palette in Notes.
Apple clarified that there is a waitlist for these features, providing clarity for users who are still waiting to gain access after some users were granted access within minutes of the beta release.
Genmoji, Image Playground, and Image Wand are among the new Apple Intelligence features introduced in the iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 developer betas. Genmoji generates custom emojis based on user descriptions, Image Playground creates cartoon images, and Image Wand transforms rough sketches into clear images in the Notes app.
The first set of Apple Intelligence features, including writing tools, notification summaries, suggested replies in Messages and Mail, and a “Clean Up” tool in the Photos app, will be released with iOS 18.1 next week, supporting only US English initially. iOS 18.2, including Genmoji, Image Playground, and other features, is scheduled for a December release.
Additionally, the iOS 18.2 and other betas expand Apple Intelligence to localized English in the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, with support for additional languages like German, Italian, and Korean coming next year.
It’s important to note that Apple Intelligence features require an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 series device.
