January 18, 2025 – In a video message released on TikTok just four hours ago, the platform’s CEO, Shou Zi Chew, assured the public that he would leave no stone unturned to ensure TikTok’s continued prosperity.
On Friday local time, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a ruling declaring the “ban if not sold” law targeting TikTok to be constitutional. This ruling clears the way for the law to take effect as scheduled on the 19th.

In response, Chew stated that President-elect Trump is committed to working with TikTok to find a solution that guarantees the platform’s legal operation in the United States. He expressed gratitude to Trump on behalf of TikTok’s employees and users.
Trump commented on the Supreme Court’s decision, stating that it was expected, but added that he would need time to review the situation before making a final decision on TikTok’s fate.
According to multiple U.S. media reports on the 16th, outgoing President Biden will not enforce the “ban if not sold” law, which was originally set to take effect on the 19th. Instead, the future of TikTok in the United States will be left to the incoming Trump administration to decide.
