January 2, 2025 – Tesla has recently acquired four separate plots of land in Santa Catarina, Nuevo León, Mexico, covering a total area of 1194 hectares, at a cost of approximately $100 million, according to Milenio.
The land parcels and their respective costs are detailed as follows:
Parcel 1: 544 hectares, valued at $44,906,243.
Parcel 2: 644 hectares, valued at $53,210,703.
Parcel 3: 6 hectares, valued at $576,024.
Parcel 4: 0.15 hectares, valued at $13,002.
In total, Tesla has invested approximately $98.7 million in land acquisition for its Mexican Gigafactory, nicknamed Giga Mexico.
Official records indicate that the land is situated in Rancho El Carvajal and was purchased from the grandchildren of the former governor, Lázaro Garza González. The acquisition was backed by Armour Secure Insurance, which itself is supported by Lloyd’s of London.
