TEL and Tata Electronics Sign MOU to Boost Semiconductor Infrastructure in India

September 11, 2024 – Recently, semiconductor equipment giant Tokyo Electron (TEL) announced on its official website that it has signed a strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding with Tata Electronics, an Indian company. The two parties will collaborate to expedite the equipment infrastructure construction for two of Tata Electronics’ semiconductor factories in India.

Beyond that, TEL and Tata Electronics will jointly provide technical training for Tata Electronics’ employees on the use of TEL equipment. Additionally, they will offer support for continuous improvement and research and development activities.

Previously, Tata Electronics had planned to build India’s first semiconductor manufacturing wafer fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat, and an OSAT packaging and testing plant in Jagiroad, Assam. The investment scales for these two projects are 910 billion and 270 billion Indian rupees, respectively.
