Samsung Halts Home Appliance Sales in Chinese Mainland: Mobile Business Unaffected

May 7, 2026 – On May 6, Samsung Electronics made an official announcement on its website. After thorough deliberation, it has decided to halt the sales of all home appliance products in the Chinese mainland market in response to the rapidly changing market environment.

The products that will no longer be sold cover a wide range, including televisions, monitors, large – scale commercial displays, air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, washer – dryer combos, garment care machines, audio systems, projectors, vacuum cleaners, and air purifiers. In essence, Samsung’s entire home appliance product line in the Chinese mainland market will be taken off the shelves.

However, for customers who have already purchased Samsung home appliances, the company has assured that it will continue to offer standard after – sales services in strict accordance with relevant laws and regulations such as the “Consumer Rights and Interests Protection Law” and the national “Three Guarantees” regulations, ensuring that users’ legitimate rights and interests remain unaffected.

Regarding the concern from the outside world about whether its mobile phone business will also withdraw from the Chinese mainland market, Samsung has made it clear that mobile phone products will continue to be sold as usual.

As a major player in the global smartphone market, Samsung still holds significant global influence. According to Counterpoint data, in the first quarter of 2026, Samsung accounted for 20% of the global smartphone market share and ranked second in terms of shipment volume worldwide.

Nevertheless, in China, one of the largest smartphone markets globally, Samsung’s situation is in stark contrast to its global performance. Data shows that in the first quarter of 2026, among the top six smartphone brands in terms of shipment volume in China, Samsung was nowhere to be seen, with Apple being the only overseas brand on the list.

This implies that although Samsung’s mobile phone business is still operating normally in the Chinese mainland, its presence in the domestic market is much weaker compared to its global standing. The complete halt of home appliance sales also marks a further contraction and adjustment of Samsung’s business in China.
