Samsung Electronics Unveils Leadership Shake-Up for 2024: New Roles and Responsibilities

November 27, 2023 – Today, Samsung Electronics announced its personnel changes for the year 2024, including the promotion of two individuals and the reassignment of positions for three others.

The key highlight of these personnel appointments is the establishment of the “Future Business Planning Group” as a vice-presidential level organization, aimed at discovering new business ventures beyond the existing ones.

Promotions:

Yong Seok-woo, Vice President of the Visual Display Business Division in the DX Department at Samsung Electronics, has been promoted to the position of Head and President of the Visual Display Business Division within the DX Department.

Kim Won-kyung, Vice President of Global Public Affairs at the DX Department’s Management Support Office, has been promoted to the position of Global Public Affairs President at Samsung Electronics.

Position Changes:

Jeon Young-hyun, Chairman of the Board and Vice Chairman of Samsung SDI, is now Vice Chairman of the Future Business Planning Department at Samsung Electronics.

Han Jong-hee, Vice Chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics, as well as the Head of the DX Department, Visual Display Division, and Home Appliance Division, has transitioned to the role of Vice President of Samsung Electronics and concurrently serves as Head of the DX Department and Home Appliance Division.

Kye Hyeon-gye, President and Head of the DS Department at Samsung Electronics, has transitioned to the role of President of Samsung Electronics and concurrently serves as Head of the DS Department.

Samsung Electronics has stated its intention to maintain the dual CEO system to enhance management stability and lay a sustainable foundation for growth. This includes strengthening the competitiveness of core businesses and developing world-class technologies.

The company has also confirmed its plans to announce regular appointments and restructuring for executives below the level of Vice President in the coming days as part of its initiatives for the year 2024.
