June 29, 2026 – Recent user posts on social media have sparked widespread discussion, claiming that ByteDance’s AI assistant Doubao is running a gray-scale test of social features, with a newly added “Conversations” tab and full integration with the Feishu account system.
Screenshots shared by netizens show that Doubao has rolled out a standalone “Conversations” function bar, which supports adding two types of contacts: existing Feishu friends and users registered on the Doubao platform. When a new contact is added, the interface will pop up a “New Contact Request” notification, and the system can automatically send AI-generated greeting messages such as “Hello” to start the conversation.

Users who tested the feature also revealed that Doubao accounts can now be used to log in to the web version of Feishu, though access remains restricted at this stage — most core Feishu functions are not yet available for accounts logged in via this method. The entire set of conversation-related social capabilities is currently only open to a small subset of users for limited gray-scale testing. Some industry observers have noted that whether this move will pose competitive pressure on Tencent’s WeChat will depend entirely on how the product evolves in subsequent iterations.
In response to the circulating rumors, a Doubao official spokesperson clarified on June 29 that the ongoing integration is only a collaborative attempt focused on enterprise office scenarios, and the two sides will deepen their cooperation in the future. The spokesperson explicitly emphasized that Doubao has no plans to launch the social functions described in the online rumors.
