META PC Predicts 50% Surge in Component Prices Due to Tariffs

April 10, 2025 – Recent reports from Wccftech highlight how the latest U.S. tariff policies are starting to ripple through the supply chain, with META PC, one of the nation’s leading custom PC builders, forecasting a sharp spike in PC component prices.

In a social media update, META PC revealed plans to hike component prices by up to 50%, citing the tariff policy as a major factor in their inability to maintain current pricing.

Effective April 5, tariffs on PC components took effect, and additional price increases of 10% to 50% are expected after April 9, varying by the component’s origin.

While META PC currently has sufficient inventory to keep prices stable for now, they caution that this buffer won’t last indefinitely. For those planning to build a PC soon, early preparation is advised.

When asked about absorbing tariff costs without passing them onto consumers, META PC stated that doing so would jeopardize their operations, indicating that the entire supply chain would struggle to absorb these costs without raising prices. This suggests that the new policy will have widespread market implications.

Another system integrator, PowerGPU, and its CEO have also commented on the tariff’s impact, emphasizing that consumers will ultimately bear the cost.

A critical factor amplifying the PC supply chain’s vulnerability is that the U.S. tariff policy extends to markets like Singapore and the Philippines. As tariffs drive up procurement costs from these regions, manufacturers are left with little choice but to raise prices.

Retailers such as Newegg and MicroCenter may take some time to adjust prices, as existing inventory could temporarily meet demand. However, PC component prices are expected to climb in the coming days.
