December 2, 2024 – As the end of support for Windows 10 looms in October 2025, Microsoft has been taking steps to encourage users to upgrade or purchase new computers capable of running Windows 11. However, a significant number of users have opted to upgrade to Windows 11 on their older devices, even if their hardware doesn’t meet the official requirements.
Recognizing this trend, Microsoft has provided guidance for those encountering issues, allowing them to roll back to Windows 10. At the same time, the company has issued warnings to those who persist with using Windows 11 on unsupported hardware.

According to a report by Neowin, Microsoft has updated its webpage regarding the use of Windows 11 on unsupported hardware. If the system detects that a user’s computer doesn’t meet the necessary criteria, it will display a watermark on the screen as a reminder. Furthermore, the support page now includes a disclaimer stating:
“This PC doesn’t meet the minimum system requirements for running Windows 11. These requirements are designed to ensure a more reliable and higher-quality experience. Installing Windows 11 on this PC is not recommended and may lead to compatibility issues. If you continue with the installation of Windows 11, your PC will no longer be supported and won’t receive updates. Any damage to your PC due to lack of compatibility won’t be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. By selecting ‘Accept’, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this statement.”
With the end of Windows 10 support approaching, users may find themselves facing a dilemma.
