BYD Yangwang U9 Xtreme: The 20-Million-Yuan Marvel Dominates Beijing Auto Show

April 30, 2026 – At the ongoing Beijing Auto Show, BYD’s brand and public relations manager, Li Yunfei, revealed that the BYD Yangwang U9 Xtreme has become the most expensive vehicle sold at the event, with a price tag exceeding 20 million yuan per unit.

This top-tier electric supercar stands out with its highly recognizable design. The “Dawn Break” paint scheme draws inspiration from the actual dawn scenery on the day the car broke the speed record. Featuring a deep black base sprinkled with hand-applied gold powder, it creates a dazzling visual effect under the lights. The paint process incorporates multiple sophisticated techniques, mixing in micron-sized metal particles, and each car’s coating requires 300 hours of handcrafting.

The upgraded Yunlian-X intelligent fully active body control system has had its high-pressure oil pump voltage increased to 1200V. When combined with a carbon fiber body and custom high-performance tires, it delivers an ultimate driving experience.

The U9 Xtreme is equipped with the world’s first mass-produced 1200V ultra-high voltage platform. It adopts the Easy Four four-motor independent drive architecture, featuring four custom-made 30,000-rpm motors. The system’s peak power reaches 2220kW, equivalent to over 3000 horsepower.

In terms of performance, the U9 Xtreme has set two significant records. It achieved a measured top speed of 496.22 km/h, making it the fastest mass-produced car globally. Additionally, it set a new record for mass-produced electric vehicles with a lap time of 6 minutes and 59.157 seconds at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

The sales figures are equally impressive. Out of the global limited edition of 30 units, 28 are allocated to overseas markets, with only 2 available domestically, highlighting the strong appeal of Chinese high-end supercars in the international market.

Notably, Leo Sanchez, a Brazilian Forbes top billionaire and professional racing driver, attended the event in person to complete the vehicle handover ceremony, becoming the world’s first U9 Xtreme owner.
