Gree’s Breakthrough: Capable of Manufacturing Humanoid Robots with Entirely Self-Developed Parts

April 28, 2026 – In a recent interview, Zhu Lei, the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Gree Electric Appliances, made a groundbreaking announcement. He stated that Gree has now fully developed the capability to manufacture humanoid robots from scratch, with all components being independently researched and produced without relying on external suppliers.

Zhu Lei attributed this remarkable achievement to Gree’s unwavering commitment and over a decade of in-depth exploration in the field of industrial robots. Over the years, Gree has continuously invested resources and efforts to enhance its technological prowess in this area.

At present, Gree has deployed more than 2,000 self-developed industrial robots across its factory sites. These robots have played a pivotal role in significantly boosting production efficiency, with an impressive 80% increase. A prime example is Gree’s Jinwan Intelligent Factory, which has achieved an extraordinary production capacity, churning out an air conditioner every 15 seconds. Moreover, the rate of self-developed equipment at this factory has reached 80%.

Dong Mingzhu, the chairwoman of Gree, has repeatedly emphasized in the past that the company’s foray into the high-end equipment sector in 2013 was driven by the determination to break free from the shackles of being dependent on others for core technologies.

The announcement by the senior executive this time marks a significant milestone. It positions Gree as one of the few domestic enterprises that have mastered the full-chain technology of humanoid robots. This development is expected to shatter the overseas technological monopoly and expedite Gree’s transformation from a home appliance giant to a high-end intelligent manufacturing conglomerate.
