Meizu’s Mobile Pause Paves Way: Flyme OS Entire Business Changes Hands!

April 11, 2026 – Meizu is making significant strides in its strategic transformation, diving deeper into a new era of technological evolution. Back in February this year, the company made a groundbreaking announcement, revealing its decision to halt the development of in-house hardware for mobile phones in the domestic market. Instead, Meizu is shifting its focus towards AI-powered software development, aiming to cultivate an open Flyme ecosystem.

The business structure of Meizu Technology has undergone a radical overhaul, with the most notable change being the complete transfer of its core asset, Flyme OS. This move signifies Meizu’s transition from the traditional mobile device sector to the burgeoning field of intelligent mobility.

ECARX Technology has officially announced that it has taken over all core assets and business operations related to Flyme OS from Xingji Meizu Group. The objective is to facilitate the seamless integration of intelligent mobility and cross-terminal ecosystems, allowing Meizu’s expertise in user interaction to shine in the era of automotive intelligence.

As per the integration plan, all intellectual property rights associated with the Flyme OS brand, along with the ongoing operations of Flyme Auto, existing customer contracts, and a substantial research and development team, will be consolidated under ECARX Technology for unified management and operation.

Founded in 2017, Hubei ECARX Technology has deep ties with Meizu. Its chairman, Shen Ziyu, previously served as the chairman of Meizu Technology, indicating a strong historical connection between the two entities.

This asset integration is not an isolated business move but rather a concrete step towards achieving Geely Holding Group’s 2030 strategic goals. Geely is strengthening its top-level coordination to ensure that key technological indicators reach global leadership levels, with the inclusion of Flyme OS being a crucial element in enhancing its competitive edge in smart mobility.

With the official handover of business operations, Flyme OS is set to evolve beyond being just a mobile operating system. It will transform into a foundational interaction platform that connects people, vehicles, and homes across various scenarios. Leveraging ECARX’s platform, Meizu’s technical team will explore new growth opportunities in the vast and expanding market of intelligent terminals.
