South Korean Government Leads GPU Task Force, Teams Up with Four Giants for 260,000 NVIDIA GPU Purchase

November 28, 2025 – Yesterday in Seoul, Ryu Jae-myung, the Second Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT of South Korea, joined forces with high-ranking executives from Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor, SK Telecom, and Naver to establish a GPU Task Force. This group aims to coordinate the implementation and application plans for a large-scale procurement of NVIDIA GPUs.

As per the previously agreed-upon consensus, the South Korean government, along with these four major enterprises, plans to purchase a total of 260,000 NVIDIA GPUs. The government, Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor, and SK Telecom will each acquire 50,000 units, while Naver is set to purchase 60,000 units.

Representing the government, Ryu Jae-myung also engaged in in-depth discussions with the executives on various topics. These included sharing experiences related to ensuring the reliability of large-scale GPU equipment and formulating application strategies. Moreover, they explored long-term strategies to invigorate South Korea’s AI ecosystem and enhance its international competitiveness in the field of artificial intelligence.
