Intel Firmly Denies TSMC’s Accusations: Strictly Bans Use or Transfer of Third – Party Confidential Info

November 27, 2025 – On November 25, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) announced that it had filed a lawsuit against its former senior vice – president, Luo Weiren, accusing him of potentially disclosing trade secrets to Intel.

According to Reuters, on November 26 local time, Intel refuted TSMC’s allegations. In a statement, Intel said, “Intel adheres to strict policies and control measures that strictly prohibit the use or transfer of any third – party confidential information or intellectual property. We take this commitment very seriously. Based on all the information currently available to us, we have no reason to believe that the allegations regarding Luo Weiren have any basis.”

Previous reports indicate that TSMC claimed that after Luo Weiren retired from TSMC earlier this year, he immediately joined Intel without prior notice. There was a high probability that he had used, disclosed, informed, delivered, or transferred TSMC’s business secrets and confidential information to Intel. As a result, TSMC deemed it necessary to take legal action, including seeking compensation for breach of contract.

Luo Weiren retired at the end of July this year. However, according to a report from LTN last week, this 75 – year – old well – known figure in the semiconductor industry returned to his former employer, Intel, at the end of last month to serve as the vice – president of research and development. It is suspected that he brought with him more than 20 boxes of confidential documents covering advanced manufacturing processes such as 2 – nanometer and 1.4 – nanometer technologies.
