Apple Unveils Safari 26 Beta: SVG & HDR Image Support Plus Legacy macOS Compatibility

July 30, 2025 – Alongside the official release of iOS/iPadOS 18.6, Apple has rolled out Safari 26.0 Beta, bringing a slew of enhancements to its web browser across multiple platforms. The beta version is now available for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, visionOS 26, macOS 26, macOS Sequoia, and macOS Sonoma users.

According to Apple’s official release notes, Safari 26 introduces several key features aimed at improving both performance and user privacy. Among the most notable updates are:

HDR Image Support: Users can now enjoy high dynamic range images for a more vibrant and realistic browsing experience.

SVG Icon Support: The browser now supports Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) icons, ensuring sharper and more scalable visuals.

Website Compatibility Reporting: A new option allows users to report compatibility issues directly to Apple, helping the company improve browser support for various websites.

Enhanced Tracking Protection: Safari 26 includes advanced features to prevent known tracking scripts from identifying users, offering greater privacy online.

Tracking Parameter Filtering: In regular browsing mode, the browser can now filter out tracking parameters from links, reducing the amount of data shared with third parties.

Customizable Keyboard Shortcuts: Users can view and customize keyboard shortcuts for extensions directly in the browser’s settings.

WebGPU Support: The latest version adds support for WebGPU, enabling more powerful and efficient graphics rendering on the web.

It’s worth noting that while macOS Sequoia and macOS Sonoma users will need to manually download Safari 26.0 Beta, those on iOS 26, iPadOS 26, visionOS 26, or macOS Tahoe will have the update installed automatically. This targeted rollout ensures a smooth transition for users across different Apple ecosystems.
