February 12, 2025 – In an internal letter released by Unity CEO Matthew Bromberg, the company announced a series of strategic organizational changes and resource optimizations aimed at achieving its 2025 strategic goals.

According to the letter, Unity has completed layoff notices by February 12, although the specific number of layoffs was not disclosed. Bromberg emphasized that these layoffs are part of a strategic effort to focus the company’s direction and enhance operational efficiency.

The CEO highlighted Unity’s future plans, which include optimizing resource allocation to prioritize helping customers reach a wider range of platforms and devices. The company also aims to balance innovation and stability, tackle technical debts, and improve software quality and performance.

Unity intends to bolster its platform’s scalability, enabling customers and partners to develop based on Unity’s core strengths. Additionally, the company plans to enhance its data analytics capabilities, providing engine customers with deeper insights into player behavior and runtime stability, while offering advertising clients a better return on investment.

Furthermore, Unity will consolidate its Unity Ads, Unity LevelPlay, and Tapjoy offerwall advertising businesses onto a single cloud platform and dataset, accompanied by structural adjustments within the relevant teams.

Bromberg clarified that these layoffs are not merely cost-cutting measures but rather strategic adjustments aimed at streamlining the team, boosting efficiency, and focusing resources on core business development. The company anticipates that these changes will facilitate a transition in its market position and drive long-term growth by 2025.
