November 13, 2024 – With just over two months remaining, TikTok faces the possibility of being banned in the United States, as previously reported. However, a potential turnaround may be on the horizon, as the newly elected President Trump had explicitly stated during his campaign that he opposes the prohibition of TikTok.
According to the latest news from Phoenix News, when questioned whether Trump would intervene to prevent TikTok’s ban in the US, a spokesperson from Trump’s team indicated that he would “fulfill” these promises, although no specific details were provided.
Interestingly, during his first presidential term, Trump had attempted to ban TikTok in the US, pushing for its sale to an American company. Nevertheless, during this year’s campaign, he expressed that banning TikTok in the country would only benefit one company and its CEO – Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg – which he was not inclined to do.
Trump had emphasized the need for competition among platforms. It’s worth noting that following the events of January 6, 2021, Zuckerberg’s Facebook made the decision to indefinitely suspend Trump’s account.
