Rapid Price Surge: NVIDIA A800 Chip Witnesses a Nearly ¥20,000 Increase in Just Two Weeks

July 10, 2023 – The NVIDIA A800 Tensor Core GPU, a deep learning acceleration card produced by NVIDIA, has been making headlines recently with a significant price surge. Reports suggest that the market price of the NVIDIA A800 80GB PCIe standard edition GPU has risen from around 90,000 Chinese Yuan per unit to approximately 110,000 Chinese Yuan in just the past 15 days.

Industry insiders attribute this sudden price increase to speculation surrounding a potential ban on the sale of NVIDIA A800 chips. News of a potential ban has triggered a surge in demand, leading to a sharp increase in prices within the market. Despite the higher price tag, the high-end NVIDIA chips remain highly sought after.

It is worth noting that the availability of NVIDIA’s H800 series GPU chips, while still intact, has also been affected by the price surge. The A800, with its data transfer rate of 400GB per second, falls slightly short of its predecessor, the A100, which boasts a transfer rate of 600GB per second. In terms of performance, the A800 offers approximately 70% of the capabilities of the A100 GPU. However, the A800 does come with an impressive maximum memory bandwidth of 2TB per second, making it a formidable competitor in the market.

The dynamics surrounding the NVIDIA A800 Tensor Core GPU clearly demonstrate the impact of market speculation and regulatory uncertainties on product prices. As the demand for high-performance GPUs continues to rise, it remains to be seen how the market will adapt and whether NVIDIA will be able to meet the growing demand while navigating the complexities of global trade regulations.
