August 20, 2024 – According to reports from sonyalpharumors, two “trusted sources” have hinted that DJI may announce some significant news in September. While the specifics remain unknown, there is a speculation that it could be a new mirrorless product, which would put DJI in more direct competition with industry giants like Sony, Canon, and Nikon.
Currently, the mainstream mirrorless camera market is yet to see the presence of Chinese manufacturers. However, DJI, which has been deeply involved in the imaging field for years, introducing products like aerial drones, action cameras, and film cameras, could potentially become a strong contender in the industry if it manages to penetrate the consumer mirrorless camera market.
It’s worth noting that China has already developed full-frame and APS-C format camera CMOS products. For instance, Chang Guang Chen Xin launched the GCINE3243 last August, an APS-C format, 8K, 43-megapixel resolution back-illuminated stacked CMOS image sensor.
Recently, on August 19th, Jinghe Integration announced a collaboration with SmartSens to unveil the industry’s first 180-megapixel full-frame (2.77-inch) CIS (CMOS Image Sensor), providing more options for high-end DSLR camera image sensors. This development further hints at the potential for DJI’s rumored new product to make a significant impact on the market.
