Apple’s Vision Pro: A Closer Look at Personalized Eye and Gesture Controls

December 26, 2023 – Apple is gearing up for the launch of its highly anticipated product, the Vision Pro, which is expected to hit the market in early 2024.

Today, tech blogger @M1Astra unveiled the settings interface for Vision Pro’s Eyes & Hands control features, shedding light on some key details. This interface is designed to offer users a personalized and comfortable usage experience. Through these settings, users can fine-tune aspects such as interpupillary distance, gesture control preferences, and overall comfort to tailor their experience to their liking, ensuring the best possible usage experience.

The Apple Vision Pro comes equipped with advanced eye-tracking technology. The settings interface indicates that Vision Pro will guide users in aligning the display with their pupils, ensuring a clear and comfortable visual experience. Users can further customize these settings to achieve the most suitable display effects based on their individual preferences.

In cases where users may not be able to use thumb and index finger gestures for any reason, a one-handed input mode can be enabled.

Furthermore, Vision Pro has the capability to automatically detect the insertion of Zeiss optical lenses for nearsightedness correction and make the necessary adjustments accordingly. Users can also view lens serial numbers, prescription information, and customize lens names and Optic ID settings.

The Vision Pro device also includes a “Tips” application, providing guidance on how to wear the headband, adjust the tension knob, and correctly use the light seal.

Users have the option to reset gesture or eye settings at any time by pressing the top button four times.

As previously reported, TF International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently stated that Vision Pro is Apple’s most significant product for 2024, with an estimated shipment of approximately 500,000 units. Vision Pro is currently in production, and mass shipments are expected to begin in the first week of January 2024. Given the current production timeline, Apple is most likely to release Vision Pro at the end of January or the beginning of February.
