Apple’s New Smart Doorbell to Feature MagSafe Technology

February 26, 2025 – According to a report by Bloomberg last year, Apple is developing a new smart doorbell to compete with Ring products. Although the device is still in its early stages of development and is not expected to hit the market in the near future, recent rumors suggest that Apple’s doorbell may feature MagSafe technology.

Kosutami, a whistleblower, posted on Platform X today, stating, “MagSafe may be coming to your door.” He quoted another tweet about Apple’s rumored smart home doorbell, hinting, “Apple’s doorbell may soon be ringing at your door,” and further implying, “MagSafe on the door, it will make a sound.” However, the specific application of MagSafe technology in smart doorbells remains unclear. While MagSafe could potentially offer a more convenient battery charging experience for the doorbell, such devices typically last for months on a single charge.

It’s worth noting that Apple currently sells many HomeKit-compatible smart door locks in its store. According to Mark Gurman’s report, Apple is considering integrating the doorbell with these smart door locks, rather than introducing a complete smart home suite. Additionally, Apple’s smart doorbell is expected to be equipped with Face ID technology, enabling it to recognize individuals and unlock doors within seconds. Therefore, this doorbell is expected to work in tandem with HomeKit-compatible smart door locks.

Nevertheless, consumers may have to wait a while before seeing this product in stores. Gurman predicts that the product may not be available until “the end of next year.”

In addition to the smart doorbell, Apple is secretly developing other smart home products. For instance, the company is anticipated to launch a brand-new “HomePad” this year, a device that combines the functionality of a HomePod and an iPad. Clues about this upcoming product were spotted in the first beta version of iOS 18.4 released last week.
