February 26, 2025 – OpenAI has officially rolled out its Deep Research feature to ChatGPT Plus, Team, Edu, and Enterprise users, fulfilling a promise made earlier this year. The company had announced the upcoming feature in early February, stating that it would be available to Plus users approximately one month later.
Previously, the Deep Research functionality was exclusive to those subscribed to the $200 per month Pro plan. However, with the latest update, Plus users now have access to 10 Deep Research queries per month. Pro subscribers have also received a boost, with their monthly query limit increasing from 100 to 120.
In addition to expanding access, OpenAI has implemented several enhancements to the Deep Research tool. Notably, ChatGPT can now embed images within responses, providing users with more comprehensive insights. The system’s understanding of file types has also been improved, aiding in the analysis of documents.
To utilize the Deep Research feature, users can click on the dedicated icon before sending their requests. Depending on the complexity of the query, ChatGPT may take between 5 and 30 minutes to generate a response. OpenAI notes that the Deep Research functionality is currently “very computationally intensive,” suggesting that free users may have to wait longer before they can experience it.
