Apple Warns 1.4 Billion iPhone Users: Ditch Google Chrome for Better Privacy

July 17, 2024 – According to a report by Forbes, Apple has launched a new promotional campaign targeting its global community of over 1.4 billion iPhone users, urging them to ditch Google’s Chrome browser in favor of its native Safari browser.

The relationship between Google and Apple has always been complex, with a previous tacit agreement seeing Google as the default search engine on Apple devices. However, as global regulatory pressures mount, Google has been pushing its Plan B, actively encouraging iPhone users to adopt Chrome.

Currently, Chrome has an installation rate of around 30% among iPhone users, but Google aims to increase this share to 50%. This, of course, poses a significant threat to Apple’s own Safari browser.

Quoting the Forbes report, Apple is aggressively promoting Safari in the global market. While the company doesn’t explicitly mention Chrome in its advertisements, it’s clear that Apple is targeting Chrome’s perceived weaknesses, particularly in the area of privacy protection.

The media outlet suggests that privacy is Chrome’s “Achilles’ heel,” pointing out that even its “incognito mode” doesn’t meet user expectations, as it still collects user device data through undetectable settings.

Recently, Apple released a new video advertisement, applying the theme of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds” to smartphone privacy protection. This ad, which is both striking and memorable, conveys a clear message: if you want to avoid being monitored online, use Safari.
