October 15, 2024 – According to data provided by Cox Automotive, the Tesla Cybertruck emerged as the third best-selling electric vehicle in the United States during the third quarter of 2024. This fully electric pickup truck trailed only its two siblings from the same brand – the Model Y crossover and the Model 3 sedan, which secured the top and second spots, respectively, in the list of most popular EVs in the country.

The Kelley Blue Book’s “Electric Vehicle Sales Report Q3 2024” highlighted that Tesla remains the undisputed leader in the American EV market, having sold 166,923 vehicles in the third quarter. So far this year, Tesla has delivered 471,374 electric cars in the US, accounting for 49.8% of the nation’s EV market.
Notably, the Cybertruck’s performance was particularly impressive, with 16,692 units sold in Q3 2024 and 28,250 sold year-to-date. This not only positioned it as the third most popular EV in the US for the quarter but also established its dominance in the battery-electric pickup segment.
For comparison, the Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, and Chevrolet Silverado EV sold 7,162, 3,817, and 1,995 units, respectively, in the third quarter. This means that the Cybertruck’s sales in Q3 surpassed the combined sales of its three main competitors.
The US EV market was predominantly led by the Model Y, which sold 86,801 units in Q3 2024. Year-to-date, the Model Y has achieved sales of 284,831 in the US, representing a significant 30.1% share of the American EV market.
Following closely behind the Model Y is Tesla’s Model 3 sedan. This vehicle sold 58,423 units in the third quarter and has reached a total of 131,975 sales in the US so far this year.
